Selected to write a new orchestral work to be performed by a chamber orchestra comprising players for the London Philharmonic Orchestra and members of the orchestras Young Player scheme, Foyle Future Firsts. Lakeland Preludes selected for the final of the 2011 Presteigne Festival Composition Competition
A collection of three piano pieces have been selected for the final of the 2011 Presteigne Festival Composition Competition. A distinguished group of performers and composers to include David Matthews, Joe Cutler, Alissa Firsova and George Vass will lead a workshop and mentoring session at Birmingham Conservatoire on April 19th in which Lakeland Preludes will feature.PREMIER - Six Degrees to be premiered by St. Andrews University Symphony Orchestra
Six Degrees has been selected for the final of the St.Andrews University Composition Competition to celebrate the institution's 600th anniversary. Six Degrees selected for BBC NOW Welsh Composer's Showcase
Six Degrees has been selected to be performed by BBC NOW in a workshop at the Wales Millennium Centre's Hoddinott Hall. The orchestral will be conducted by Jac van Steen and the workshop will be led by BBC NOW's composer-in-association, Simon Holt. Tickets are free and available on the day from the WMC ticket office.
British Composer Student Award
Awarded the inaugural British Composer Awards Student Composition for Siegfried Stanzas for soprano and violin. The work will be performed at the BASCA award ceremony on 30th November 2010 and broadcast on BBC Radio 3 the following day.
These Visions Album Launch

PREMIER - Cour de Recreation St. Magnus Festival 2010
Cour de Recreation for chamber ensemble will be performed by the Hebrides ensemble as part of the St. Magnus Festival 2010. St. Magnus Festival 2010
Mark has been selected to participate on the St. Magnus Composer's Course 2010 led by Alasdair Nicolson, Sally Beamish and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. During the course, Mark will produce a new work for The Hebrides Ensemble which will be performed as part of the festival on 23rd June 2010.
Friends of the Music of St. Giles Cathedral Composers' Competition 2010
Trapped for piano trio was awarded First Prize in the St.Giles Cathedral Composer's Competition 2010 where it was performed by members of the Darwin Ensemble.

Trapped for clarinet, cello and piano has been selected for the final of Friends of the Music of St.Giles Cathedral Composers' Competition 2010. A performance of Trapped will take place at the Cathedral on 19/03/10.
PREMIER - Five Bagatelles
Written for solo clarinet, Five Bagatelles is due to be performed in the Recital Hall at the Royal College of Music on 12th November 2009 with Shelley Thruman performing.
PREMIER - Piano Trio (Second Movement)
The second movement of Mark David Boden's Piano Trio is due to be premiered at Kampala Music School, Uganda. The new composition for violin, cello and piano was conceived whilst Mark was volunteering in Africa and comprises influences from Ravel and Vaughan-Williams. The complete work is due to be premiered later this year.
Volunteering in Uganda
The summer of 2009 has seen Mark working as a music teacher at Kampala Music School, Uganda. As part of a four-man British volunteering team, Mark has been teaching piano, jazz piano, theory of music, composition, aural training and general musicianship, teaching students as young as five in addition to adult learners. Mark was also involved in outreach projects which aimed to bring musical tuition to some of the cities poorest communities.
Composers of Wales Mathias Prize 2009
Mark David Boden has been awarded the Mathias Prize 2009. His winning composition Me Nite Iu for solo piano was performed by Xenia Pestova during the final concert of the Bangor New Music Festival 2009. The work, based upon a Japanese poem by Miyazawa Kenji, was unanimously awarded first prize by members of Composers of Wales.
PREMIER - Eloi, Eloi, Iama Sabachthani
The latest choral work written by Mark David Boden is due to be performed by the Cardiff Ardwyn Singers. Eloi, Eloi Iama Sabachthani is a short work for SATB and organ, fusing text from the testament of Matthew with the words of psalm 117. The concert takes place at St. Mary of the Angels Church, King's Road, Cardiff on 27th March.
PREMIER - Me Nite Iu
Me Nite Iu for solo piano will be performed by Xenia Pestova in a Masterclass as part of the Bangor New Music Festival. The composition was one of three shortlisted for the Composers of Wales Mathias Prize 2009. The Masterclass takes place in Powis Hall, Bangor University on Friday 20th March at 10:00am.
Royal College of Music Scholarship
Mark has been awarded a scholarship from the Royal College of Music to study on the MMus course from September 2009.

PREMIER - Sing, help, ho, wallow!
An aria written by Mark David Boden for Music Theatre Wales will be performed as part of a masterclass led by the composer Michael Berkeley and writer Ian McEwan. Worshipful Company of Musicians Silver Medal
The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama have nominated Mark to receive the Worshipful Company of Musicians Silver Medal 2008. The award will be presented on Wednesday 12th November at Clothworker's Hall, Mincing Lane, London.
LSQ New Music Competition Finalist
Mark has reached the final of the Lunar Saxophone Quartet's New Music competition for the second consecutive year. His composition these visions did appear... will be performed by the quartet at The Warehouse, London on the 22nd November 2008.
ABRSM Spectrum Commission
A new work for piano duet has been commissioned from Mark David Boden by Thalia Myers for the forthcoming ABRSM publication Spectrum for Duet. Mark's composition Blue is a variation on a theme by Howard Skempton and is due to be published for release in 2010.
PREMIER - SeaScape
Mark's new vocal composition is due to be premiered at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on 16/05/08. SeaScape sets four poems from different époques and cultures and uses a colourful ensemble of 11 musicians. The concert will also include performances of Mere for solo flute and Water for solo piano. PREMIER - A Star was Broken
Mark's new chamber work A Star Was Broken is due to be premiered at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama on 29/04/08. A Star was Broken takes inspiration from the poem Ceremony after a Fire Raid by the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and is due to be performed by the Royal College of Music's New Perspectives ensemble.
LSQ Competition
Mark's saxophone quartet Constellations was awarded the 2nd prize (the Sax.co.uk award) at the final of the Lunar Saxophone Quartet's New Music competition. The award was presented by Graham Fitkin, Gabriel Jackson and Andy Scott at The Warehouse, Waterloo, London.
LSQ Finalist
Mark's composition Constellations reached the final of the Lunar Saxophone Quartet's New Music competition. Five short listed works will be performed by the Quartet as part of a live competition at The Warehouse, London on the 18th December 2007. Film Score
Recently completed projects include a film score for Welsh based director Tony Evans. The Legend of Don Williams is a noir style folk tale set in a caricatured Pontypridd. The film is due to be premiered in January 2008. More details can be found at www.pontypriddtales.aol.com
Composition for National Museum, Cardiff
Rouen Cathedral for solo Marimba is a work written for the National Museum, Cardiff where it is due to be performed in October 2007. The composition takes it's title and inspiration from one of Monet's thirty oil paintings of the main façade of Rouen Cathedral which the artist worked on between 1892 and 1895.
